Job Title:         Project Engineer

Department:        Civil Construction

This position is offered Full time, 40 hours per week, M-F, (employer upon review, of desired applicant, may be flexible with required hours if needed to accommodate an active students schedule) This position will provide project engineering and managing of civil project(s) through coordination, field project activities and quality control tasks of the assigned construction project(s) for various phases of the project(s) in the region. This position works closely with project leadership teams, in the timely distribution of all information, including project submittals, completed plans, weekly meeting agendas with minutes, change orders, invoices, etc. The main goals will be to drive and support the delivery of profitable complex projects on schedule, on budget with complete customer satisfaction, in a safe manner and within quality standards. Additional work activities may be assigned. This position will report administratively to the Director of Operations.


Examples of some of the primary work activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitates project objectives.
  • Manage company equipment used in operations and location of such equipment daily.
  • Leads and oversees all project activities such as, updated plans, change orders, purchase orders, meeting agendas and meeting minutes for team collaboration.
  • Monitor, track and alert Project Manager(s) and Superintendent(s) of project issues or outstanding items.
  • Oversee agenda notifications and alert such matters to project managers and superintendents.
  • Process, transmit and distribute shop drawings as needed to on site superintendents to ensure     the latest site copies are always current.
  • Maintain project schedules through direct communication with project managers “and” the onsite, in field, superintendents daily.
  • Collaborate on project changes and needs through direct verbal communication project managers and daily job reports supplied by superintendents daily.
  • Weekly reporting of all necessary documents- expenses, mileage, etc.
  • Confirm as-built updates as required.
  • Meeting attendance throughout projects with owners, subs, architects, engineers.
  • Address issues as they arise with minimal delay.

Requirements for the position include the following:

  • B.S. degree in construction management, civil engineering, or equivalent experience.  Applicants within one year of graduating will also be accepted.
  • Exhibits high level ability to interpret plans and specifications.
  • Proficient in knowledge of GPS survey equipment and grade setting tools.
  • Working knowledge of CAD or related programs for the design of site models for machine controls or ability to learn.
  • Ability to support the project process with an acceptable degree of construction knowledge.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check .
  • Proficiency with all MS Office products.
  • Detail oriented and thorough with good organization skills.
  • Exhibits good problem-solving skills and shows logical process to decision making.
  • Willing and able to travel according to project site needs.
  • Multi-task oriented capable of running multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of project stakeholders.
  • Physical ability to navigate a construction site.

Qualifications that are highly desirable but not mandatory are:

  • Maintains composure in a high stress environment
  • Extensive experience with codes and standards
  • Experience with Design Build process
  • Experience in scheduling software Microsoft Project
  • ARC Standard First Aid/ Adult CPR
  • Professional LEED certification.
